Lavender Skies

Perched on a verdant hillside in northern Zakynthos, this rustic home is steeped in Greek charm. We love the authentic design features here – think timber beams and exposed stone walls – but it’s the thoughtful layout that sets this place apart from the other island homes we’ve seen. The uncluttered living room with double-height ceiling creates an illusion of space while the main bedroom boasts direct terrace access, making the outside feel like a true extension of the home. Throw open the French doors and soak up the sights and sounds of island life or make yourself comfy in the upstairs bedroom where you’ll be able to gaze out at the Ionian Sea through a large porthole window. Safe to say, the sleeping arrangements here are a win-win.

It's not just the inside space that’s worth writing home about, though. Outside you’ll find a gorgeous patio complete with private swimming pool and plenty of spots for socialising, including a shaded veranda with sweeping views of the ocean. Come together for an alfresco meal or head into the small harbour village of Agios Nikolaos and treat yourself to dinner at an authentic Greek taverna. Then, when you’ve had your fill of being out and about, come home and savour a sunset digestif on the terrace.
