Cottage in North Yorkshire: York
addremove
One of two lovingly restored adjoining holiday cottages, this property sits beside the owners' small working farm which is nestled in the village of Brandsby. The beautiful surrounding countryside offers ample walking and cycling opportunities, whilst, for the less energetic, the pretty market towns of Easingwold (6 miles), Helmsley (9 miles), and Thirsk (14.5 miles) offer weekly markets, traditional tearooms, good restaurants, and old world charm. Within 4 miles are Crayke and Dilling, both with popular gastropubs. Brandsby is handily placed for touring, with the famous city of York and the North York Moors both within 12 miles. The surrounding area is steeped in history, with an abundance of abbeys, stately homes and gardens, the best known being, Castle Howard (10 miles), Rievaulx Abbey (11 miles), and Byland Abbey (8 miles). Make your way up to the top of the drive whilst taking in your rural surroundings. Step inside this beautiful, homely cottage into a small hallway where you can hang your coat and leave behind your walking shoes. Head through into the modern kitchen/diner with a dining table in the centre. The kitchen is generously equipped so you can rustle up hearty meals and picnics for your travels, dine around the table at mealtimes and plan your next walk or adventure. After dinner, head through into the cosy lounge with sofas set around a wood burner effect electric fire, sit back, and relax while watching your favourite film on the Freeview TV or the Amazon Firestick. When it's time to retire for the evening, climb the open staircase to discover three well appointed bedrooms: a double, a twin, and a single room, all providing lovely views of the gardens and countryside. Start the day refreshed with a shower in the modern shower room before heading out for your ramble. Step out to the lovely mature cottage garden; crisp mornings can be enjoyed with a cup of coffee in hand, savouring the natural surroundings from the lawned garden. This is the ideal spot to return to and relax after your long day of exploring. With the dark skies, you can look out at night at the Milky Way and maybe see shooting stars zooming past.
