A pretty Gloucestershire village, Upton St Leonards boasts a traditional pub, well -stocked farm shop, two hotels with excellent restaurants, a shop and Post Office, as well as a local pottery. Many lovely walks and cycle routes can be enjoyed from the village, with the Gloucestershire Way, Cotswold Way and Wysis Way all running close by. A Barn Owl Centre, Benedictine Monastery and the Prinknash Bird and Deer Park are also within easy reach. The rural village of Cranham is nearby and lies in the westerly fold of the beautiful Cotswolds hills, adjoining ancient beech woodlands and Cranham Common, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest. Nearby, the historic waterfront city of Gloucester offers Roman foundations, Victorian Docklands and a magnificent Norman cathedral (whose cloisters were used as a location in the Harry Potter films) rubbing shoulders with a bustling city centre. The delightful regency spa town of Cheltenham, with its historic Georgian architecture and incredible range of shops, cinemas, theatres, restaurants, pubs and visitor attractions, as well as numerous festivals including the famous Gold Cup horse racing, is just a short drive away. Many unspoilt Cotswold towns and villages lie to the east, while to the west are the magnificent Royal Forest of Dean and Slimbridge Wildlife Park. With the historic towns of Bath and Stratford-upon-Avon and the city of Oxford around an hour's drive, there is something to suit all tastes in this beautiful part of the country.
