Area
Ulverston is a cobbled-street market town. It has independent shops, cafés, and pubs with open fires and real ales. There is something for everyone, from fine dining to traditional pub food. Ulverston is a festival town, with flags, walking, art, and music festivals in the summer and the Dickensian Christmas festival in late November. Stan Laurel was born there, and it holds the world record for the biggest foam pie fight, revealing a fun, community-minded town. The town and surrounding countryside offer beautiful views of the southern Lake District and Morecambe Bay. Deepest, widest, and shortest canal makes for a lovely afternoon walk with a pub and bay views. All National Park attractions are accessible. Derwent Beach is a popular beach for families. Nearby family attractions include the South Lakes Wild Animal Park, Lakes Windermere and Coniston, and Birkrigg Common.
Region
Impressive mountains, open fells and clear-water lakes, the Lake District has it all. From walking in the mountains to exhilarating watersports or just a gentle cruise on a steam-powered yacht, Cumbria is the perfect holiday destination.
