Area
Ulverston is a cobbled-street market town. It has independent shops, cafés, and pubs with open fires and real ales. Fine dining and tavern meals are both available. Ulverston is a festival town, with flags, walking, art, and music festivals in the summer and the Dickensian Christmas festival in late November. Stan Laurel was born there, and it holds the world record for the biggest foam pie battle, revealing a joyful, community-minded town. The town and surrounding area offer stunning views of the southern Lake District and Morecambe Bay. Deepest, widest, and shortest canal makes for a great afternoon walk with a pub and bay views. All National Park attractions are accessible. Furness Coast has sandy beaches and birding. Nearby family attractions include the South Lakes Wild Animal Park, Lakes Windermere and Coniston, and Birkrigg Common.
