The nine mile long Ullswater is thought by many to be the most beautiful of all the lakes in the Lake District. Watermillock is a small, scattered, rural village, within easy reach of all the local attractions and is ideally located for exploring the northern Lake District. A short walk from your door along the road takes you to rural lanes linking to footpaths up Little Mell Fell or across Swinburns Park to Gowbarrow Fell and Aira Force which is part of the Ullswater Way. A short drive away, is the pretty village of Pooley Bridge, with its unique, stainless steel, single arched bridge. There is a great range of places to eat, gift shops and a village store for supplies. Glenridding is also a short drive away, described by Wainwright as one of the prettiest places in the Lakes with 360 degree views of mountains. It is the starting point for some of the most spectacular walks such as Helvellyn via Striding Edge, Place Fell and High Street. The historic properties of Dalemain, Hutton in the Forest and Lowther Castle are close by, all of which have lovely tearooms for treating yourself or try the delicious Jersey ice cream at Abbott Lodge Farm. Further afield, Carlisle, Eden Valley, Howgill Fells and Lanercost Priory and Hadrian's Wall can be explored. Enter straight into the spacious lounge/diner with a vaulted ceiling. This cottage is al on one level, and the living area is the hub of the house with a three seater sofa and armchair right in front of the flame effect gas fire and TV/DVD which is great to enjoy anytime of the day. The dining table and chairs have views out across the garden. Heading on through to the contemporary kitchen, there is an electric oven and gas hob, fridge with freezer compartment, microwave and a dishwasher. The bedrooms lead off the kitchen, a twin room and a super king size at the far end of the property, both have en suite shower and WC. Outside the front door is a lovely, south facing patio enjoying views to the High Street Range. There is a lawned area beyond the enclosed patio. There is also parking for two cars at the property. There is plenty to do in the local area, including: kayaking and canoeing, horse riding, quad biking, visit Wordsworth birthplace and homes and walk the Ullswater way.
