Blessed with a peaceful position in the Andalusian countryside, this rustic home is nearly two centuries old and if anything, it's getting more charming as the years go on.

The main reason for this is the way that the hosts find a balance between retaining period features with adding more contemporary amenities. Behind the home's whitewashed walls, you'll see wooden ceiling beams and a traditional fireplace, but also a modern kitchen and equally glossy bathrooms.

Given the local climate, you will probably want to spend as many waking hours in the open air as possible and there are plenty of ways to do just that across the ten-hectare site. Not only is the swimming pool especially cooling on hot afternoons, but it also looks out over sweeping views of local hillsides. If you're ever in need of a little shade, there's lots of space to sit and relax beneath the leafy pergola, too.

The address sure does feel secluded and the nearest village – Cómpeta – is just over two kilometres away, offering a small selection of shops and restaurants. A little further afield, the coastline lies about 20 kilometres away and there's a great selection of beaches from which to pick.
