It houses a market place, Georgian buildings, a Norman church and a wealth of pubs, shops, restaurants, a cinema and a leisure centre. It also houses the World of James Herriott Museum, where you can discover the town's famous vet and author.

The North York Moors National Park covers 554 square miles, with landscape ranging from heather-clad moorland and deep secluded dales, to the cliffs and coves of the magnificent coastline making it a haven for walkers.
