Perfectly located for getting to the beaches of the north coast at Minehead (19 miles), Porlock and Putsborough, and the Jurassic coast at Lyme Regis (26 miles). The historic town of Taunton is 8 miles away and has many shops, pubs, and restaurants, and it s just 1 hour 40 minutes from London to Taunton on the fast train This impressive 19th century listed farmhouse sits in its own secluded valley down a winding track, overlooking old farm buildings, a mill lake and water mill. Through the front door you enter a welcoming hall leading to two lounges, one more formal and the other more of a snug, designed for you to sit back and relax, surrounded by eclectic antiques and art. Both reception rooms offer cosy open fireplaces for chilly autumn and winter evenings. A range of popular family games including Scrabble, Monopoly and Jenga are available to while away any rainy days. Moving through the ground floor, you pass the old dairy with its traditional cider flagons and vintage kitchenware, and the utility room with washing and drying facilities, there is also a handy WC on the ground floor. The gorgeous dining room hosts a large fireplace and wood burner, a substantial dining table for 10 and a sumptuous velvet sofa for those morning coffees and a newspaper. Finally, you reach the elegant and well equipped kitchen, with its traditional cream AGA, larder units and island seating. Upstairs are the large five bedrooms, a super king size, three king size and one twin room, each decorated with its own unique character, together with two bathrooms, including a wet room, and the other with a traditional cast iron bath. To the front of the property is a superb, terraced garden and seating area with a manicured lawn and views across the rolling farmland, lake and woodland. This is the place for enjoying summer evenings, sipping glasses of wine or dining al fresco with your guests, while the children take on the challenges of a game of croquet or boules. There is a choice of charcoal barbecues and a pizza oven for the more adventurous outdoor cooks. Below the house down a cut path through the meadow is your own tennis court ready for some wholesome family doubles. The house boasts a stunning Victorian walled garden, with par terre beds of fresh herbs, fruit and cut flowers, and if you re staying in season (April/May/June) copious bunches of asparagus from the 100 year old asparagus bed. The wildflower meadow offers the chance for a quiet coffee or glass of wine away from the mêlée of the house party. There is a lake situated within the grounds, so children must be always kept under supervision. There is private off road parking for five cars.
