York is 12 miles away, with must see attractions like the gothic Minster, Railway Museum and Yorvik Viking Centre. There is an abundance of thriving market towns nearby, wonderful rural walks, and Whitby and the Yorkshire Coast are in easy reach. Dogs are not permitted, but you will meet the owners three friendly spaniels; any more would be a crowd.
