• "The property was much more than we could ever expect."

  The whole.place was spotless and smelt amazing. The rooms were well.equipped, spacious and comfortable. We had the master room which was just wow! The grounds were lovely, well maintained and lots of space to explore. The hot tub and sauna were both is a great features. We were a party of 18 and this was the perfect sized place to celebrate a special birthday. The hosts were so lovely, greeting us at arrival and being on hand for any queries during our stay. We would love to come back. Thanks again.

  A rather splendid welcome hamper was waiting for us. A really sumptuous property which accommodated our large family early. The grounds were perfect for the little children to explore in and with the hot tub a nice retreat for the grown ups in the evening. Would wholeheartedly recommend to anyone for special occasions. • "This was a surprise family holiday for my husband's 70th Birthday."

  From the moment we entered the property, we were blown away by the magnificence of it all...true luxury. We wanted for nothing. The hot tub, gym and sauna was enjoyed by all. We even used the massage table. The grounds are beautiful. All the children enjoyed lots of outdoor games and a treasure hunt. We baked in the kitchen. Had a murder mystery night and much more. The emphasis was on fun family time for all 17 of us. Skipton castle and Bolton Abbey were great places to visit. John and Haley are amazing. Always on hand with anything we needed. I can highly recommend Scale House and will definitely return in the near future. Thank you, Linda and Bernard.

• "Wow! Scale House is an absolutely amazing property."

  10/10. We stayed as a large multi generational family to celebrate my dad’s 80th birthday and the house did not disappoint. It’s beautifully and stylishly decorated, with so much space inside and out. The large hot tub was a hit with everyone! The host John, met us on arrival to welcome us, show us round and explain how things work. He was available throughout our stay too to answer any questions via a quick text. In our experience the friendliest hosts we’re ever experienced- the welcome basket was thoughtful and enjoyed by all. The property is spotlessly clean and so well stocked with more than enough glasses and plates etc so that we were never short of anything. If I had to be picky, the only downside was only 1 dishwasher, which is a shame for a property this size. We visited in winter, but we would certainly visit again in the summer as the outdoor space and facilities looked just as good.

• "Surprise getaway for my husbands 30th, all our friends arrived before us & were greeted by the owners who were incredibly welcoming and showed them around the property, as well as telling them all about the history of the house."

  My husband was truly surprised, we had a fabulous weekend, the perfect place for a party! An unbelievable house with so many spectacular features & in a beautiful location with plenty to explore! The owners were extremely helpful prior and during our stay and provided a huge amount of helpful information including places to visit/ popular walking trails! A wonderful weekend to remember & we would love to go back again for the next big celebration!

  From start to finish we had the best time! The hosts were so lovely. We had an in depth tour on arrival and were shown how everything worked ect. The hosts were contactable throughout our stay for if we needed them, the welcome basket was a lovely touch. I can’t even put into word how amazing the house and outside spaces are! The photos are fantastic but still do not do it justice! This was the perfect setting for a get together with friends and we can’t wait to book again. Although the house is huge it was still very warm and cosy and is clearly well loved and well kept.

• "We have had an amazing time at Scale House with family and friends."

  The house is beautifully decorated and amazingly well equipped with real attention to detail. Its comfort embraces you. A magnificent property. The owners go beyond expectations in the level of careful thought they give to basic provisions (and much more). John, Haley and the team work so hard to ensure that everything is perfect from the moment you arrive. Their warmth, kindness and ‘friendship’ extends throughout the stay, never intrusive but reassuringly close. Everyone was sorry to pack up and leave. We had a mixed group of folk ranging from eighteen months to eighty and the facilities (hot tub, gym, sauna and extensive grounds were well used (and they are so well maintained). BBQ, fire pit - I could go on! The property comes well recommended by our family, but credit must go to John, Haley and their wonderful team. Thank you for enabling us to make good memories at Scale House. God willing - we’ll be back!

  They answered many questions I had and were really friendly and helpful. Then the actual house and grounds were incredible. The pictures really don't do it justice. We stayed here for my friend's hen do and hired a life drawing company and a private chef. It was the perfect setting and everyone commented on how amazing this place is. Thank you John and Haley!

  As a group we have been going away together for nearly 20 years, and this is the first time we have revisited a previous property, that really says it all. Scale House is a fantastic property, set in beautiful grounds. The owners John and Haley are so accommodating and friendly, they really make you feel welcom, without being overbearing. All in all 10 out of 10!

• "We booked Scale House for two of my best friends "Sten" do."

  From the minute we booked John and Haley couldn't have been more helpful, answering all our questions and making sure we had everything we needed. When we arrived John was there to give us a tour and help us get settled in. He was so welcoming and friendly. Scale house is amazing. We hired a private chef one night, the dining room was perfect and all 22 of us were sat round enjoying a lovely meal together. The cinema room is a lovely addition we were able to make a video for the grooms and that was the perfect room to show it. The grounds are so lovely, we held a 'sports day' on the Saturday and the garden was perfect for this, we had so much fun. Hot tub is lovely and spacious and was turned on for our arrival. Couldn't have asked for a better venue for such a special weekend. It was perfect and we are all thinking of an excuse to return soon!

• "We booked Scale House for my daughter's hen party - with 22 well-behaved mothers, girlfriends, aunties & cousins."

  The house was absolutely perfect. It is really stunning and very special. There was plenty for all ages to do, eg hot tub, table tennis, sauna, garden walks with sweeping lawns, and plenty of room for us all to get together for fun and games. We hired a private chef for the evening we arrived and that worked really well. The owners, John & Haley, were so helpful and everything, and more, had been thought of. All the rooms have the wow factor, and everywhere is just so photogenic. Some of the second floor rooms are maybe more suited to children but we really didn't mind as we only slept (very well!) up there. All the bedrooms on the first floor are lovely, especially the four poster which of course the bride to be had to have. We all said we would be looking for an excuse to return.

  It was clear so much thought had gone in to the design and stocking of the property. We all had a wonderful time. The only thing I’d recommend would be a floor plan to help people plan where people were going to stay when at the property. The hosts and Jacob were so friendly and on hand for anything we need. • "Wonderful home, everything you could wish to have as part of your stay."

  Haley & John are such lovely hosts and really make you feel welcome and are on hand to answer any questions. Mike was also really helpful and friendly showing us round and letting us know how things worked. I stayed with friends and family as part of birthday celebrations and the experience just made my birthday even more special. You probably need a car if you are wanting to get to Skipton, Grassington or any nearby villages but honestly you could easily enjoy walks in the local area or just enjoy being in the property - for such a large house it was incredibly cosy and warm. Plenty of choice in films to watch (Blu-ray), games (darts and table tennis), the sauna, gym and hot tub. Hopefully be back again in the future

  Absolutely amazing property. From the cinema room, to the games room, to the hot tub. We loved it all! We had a private chef come to the house to serve our wedding breakfast and the dining room seated the 16 of us easily. Excellent Wi-Fi throughout the house and the hosts were quick to answer any of our queries. Would highly recommend Scale House, we had the most magical week there.

  Scale house is absolutely beautiful, inside and out. It was kept warm and felt really cozy with plenty of room for everyone. The kitchen was well equipped with every gadget you’d need whether you were making toast or a 3 course meal, perfect! The decor is stunning in every room we all loved it, and the rooms just kept coming, it’s a huge place! • "There were 17 of us who stayed for the week."

  9 Adults and 8 children. Absolutely everything was spectacular. The photos online don't do this property justice, you must take a look at Instagram. The huge bedrooms and the spacious bathrooms were superb and the living space downstairs was more than enough for all of us, you never felt like you were cramped as we had in previous properties. With the two lounges, snug and study, and that's just downstairs. The children loved the cinema room and the vast grounds were thorough explored by all. Including a game or two of cricket on the lawn. John recommended a walk going out the back of the property into the woods, which all the Dad's did the one day, which was enjoyed and what made it even better was that they then had the hot tub to come back to after extending the walk to almost 20 miles! The kitchen was well stocked with all the relevant pots and pans which enabled us to do a Sunday Roast for 21 people, we had some friends stop for lunch, and the ovens and aga worked overtime. (Haley had also recommended a few butchers which was helpful) There were also enough glasses for multiple glasses of wine throughout the evening and the coffee machines were used by all, every day, multiple times a day. The two washing machines and tumble dryer were a god send with 8 children as well as the drying racks in the laundry room. There were board games to choose from in the study as well as a mixture of novels for both young and old. Haley set up a whatsapp group with myself and John, which we used during the week to ask any questions. This was a great help and no question was too big or small. To top off the amazing level of service, I left our spare set of car keys by the front door, which John and Haley posted straight back to me without any fuss whatsoever. If there was one thing I would change, that would be to install a second dishwasher, with 17 people, it was on constantly. Thank you for letting us stay in your property, it was definitely a week to remember.

• "We had a very special, three-generation family reunion with people gathering from far and wide."

  Scale House was superb, and the hospitality and kindness of owners John and Haley was exceptional - not one expects from your average house rental. The hot tub and gym were greatly enjoyed, especially by the youngsters, and we loved lounging about on the terrace and looking at the view; and then, the surrounding countryside is gorgeous for walks, too. Many special memories were made. Extra points awarded for super-comfy beds, and for the outrageously luxurious master suite! Thoroughly recommended.

  The owners met us and showed us around the property, they couldn't do enough. A lovely welcome basket of local produce in the kitchen, each bedroom beautifully decorated, and the main downstairs rooms were so large there was never any crowded spaces. The grounds outside were very pleasant, including a hot tub, gym and sauna room. Gorgeous scenery from each bedroom, would certainly recommend to family friends and clients...we will go back

• "What an amazing house."

  It is grand yet comfortable and homely and was the perfect venue for us to bring our family together in celebration of our Golden Wedding anniversary. An added bonus was how perfectly it fitted the Halloween theme with spooky décor around the hall and dining room, all of which further added to the fun. The hot tub was well used generally and to top off our stay we sat in the tub on one crisp, frosty morning watching the sun rise. Absolutely beautiful! Thank you to John and Haley for your attention to detail and for the use of your fabulous house for our special occasion.

• "This exceeded all our expectations and we would highly recommend Scale house for any sort of gathering of family, friends or relatives."

  It is large enough to allow to cater for all your needs and space. The kitchen is well equiped with all usual equipment found in any home. There are basic provisions so no need to take tea and coffee etc. A welcome bag was provided with lots of little luxury items sourced locally. The gym, sauna and hot tub were used by all the family and we enjoyed the lovely outdoor facilities including gas BBQ and fire pit. The house is absolutely wonderful and we can not praise it enough but I must also add that the hosts, John and Haley went out of their way to make the whole experience memorable. thank you so much.

• "We had a fantastic week at Scale House with our family of 18; 8 children aged 2-13 and 10 adults."

  There is so much space both indoors and outdoors for everyone to either join in or sneak away to a quiet corner and the dining table was big enough for us all to eat dinner together. I think we used all the facilities over the week with table tennis and the hot tub being the favourites. The house is extremely well equipped ( we made a big chilli in the extra large slow cooker while we were out all day) and all the rooms are comfortable, spacious and tastefully decorated. Haley and John were there to give a tour on our arrival which was extremely useful and set up a WhatsApp group so we could get in contact if needed. They also made lots of useful suggestions for places to visit - the children loved Billy-Bobs which we’d probably wouldn’t have visited without a recommendation. The weather wasn’t great but we really didn’t notice as there was so much to do both at the house and in the local area. The children have been telling everyone they’ve stayed in a castle and two little girls even got their wish of sleeping in a four poster bed for a night come true!

  We had a fantastic stay for 15 family members. 3 generations from 2-68 yrs. The bedrooms were beautiful. The two main lounges were great and used for family chats and games. The cinema is a great addition and we had a couple of cinema sessions. We had some lovely family meals together which made our stay extra special. The hot tub and gym were used by all members of the family. All the facilities both inside and out were outstanding. The welcome pack was a beautiful gift and greatly appreciated by us all. We would definitely recommend your home for a family break. Any little issues were promptly sorted with a smile. Thank you Haley and John

• "A beautiful house that is perfect for a special celebration."

  Scale house is opulent yet comfortable. Hayley and John were wonderful hosts and made our group feel so welcome. We enjoyed the little touches around your home - our welcome hamper filled with local goodies, Molton brown toiletries and freezer with ice dispenser. The kitchen is well equipped with an Aga, beautiful crockery and cutlery. We enjoyed the dining room too, a beautiful space to be all seated together, enjoying good food, wine and reminiscing of our friendship memories. The weather was kind to us the following day and we enjoyed the day in the garden with comfortable furniture and a large hot tub. The grounds are stunning. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed our weekend break and we all want to return - Christmas time would be magical. A special thank you also to Skyes cottages that made the booking so seamless. Would highly recommend using both again.

  The property is outstanding and has absolutely everything you could possibly need at a holiday property. The owners Haley and John greeted us on arrival and gave us a lovely tour of the property and it's facilities. Scale house is breathtaking but it is also so homely. We didn't leave the property all weekend as there was plenty for us to do in the house, we made full use of the hot tub and the surrounding gardens. However, the owners were full of information about the local area. All 16 of us absolutely loved our stay and didn't want to come home! The owners are so responsive and answered multiple questions I had about the property before we came and they went above and beyond and helped organise the delivery of a beautiful bouquet of flowers and helium balloons to surprise the bride to be on her arrival! We did have a leak at the property on our first morning but John responded immediately and was at the property within half an hour. He did everything to ensure our holiday wasn't disturbed in anyway. The customer service was outstanding. We would definitely like to return as a group in the future but we have all said it would be a fabulous property to come with our families also. I would certainly recommend staying at Scale House!

  I can't quite believe we found such a beautiful house to host our big family party. Everyone was asking how I had found it! Scale House is by far the best large house we have ever stayed in for one of these family celebrations. I think the words that would best describe the experience are 'five star luxury' not only for the house which is just so beautiful, we felt like we were staying in a set from an interior design magazine, but also the service you provided was exceptional.   The pictures simply don't do the space the justice it deserves. The owners welcomed us as family, complete with a wonderful selection of goods from local establishments. Everything was clean, well maintained and comfortable, they made a very special occasion (our best friend's wedding) absolutely perfect. We have already recommended the location to our friends and family and will be sure to book again as soon as we can!

• "The hosts were absolutely fantastic, having spent a lot of time trying to fix a plumbing issue."

  Unfortunately that issue is why it was slightly uncomfortable in one of the rooms, however besides that there were no problems at all and we all had a wonderful stay. The house is kept very clean and is very warm despite the weather and it being a very large space. The surroundings & nearby town and attractions are stunning.

• "I rented Scale House for my birthday and it’s safe to say it was my best birthday ever!"

  The house is beautiful and the photos don’t do justice to how gorgeous the house is inside, it is an absolute dream! The owners are two of the loveliest people I have ever met and were on hand all weekend only a text message away should we have needed anything. I would recommend this place as a holiday to anyone, despite the vast size of the house it feels very cosy and homely so is a perfect choice for large or small groups. My only regret is that we didn’t stay for longer, as after 3 nights, none of us wanted to leave!

  The house is stunning, so well equipped and with amazing facilities. The hosts could not have been more accommodating and were incredibly attentive. The surrounding area is beautiful and there is so much to do within a 10 mile radius. I would happily recommend this property to anyone and we hope to return some day.

  Family re-united from England, Ireland, Wales and USA. Space to enjoy communal time or to have some down time Facilities were wonderful. • "A beautiful house expensively furnished and well equipped, the gardens extensive and immaculate."

  Hayley and John were there to greet us, very friendly hosts who did all they could to make us welcome and ensure our comfort. We usually go to France for our group trip but this made a wonderful alternative and opened our eyes to the beauty of the Yorkshire Dales, we all said we’d be back.
