Dorchester, the county town of Dorset, is 11 miles to the south and offers high street shops, two cinemas and numerous bars, cafés and restaurants. The picturesque rolling hills surrounding the village are the ideal backdrop for all manner of outdoor pursuits and also home to some unusual landmarks, including the Cerne Abbas Giant, which is well worth a visit.
