With a pub, two local shops, a quaint tea room, a hairdressers, and a beauty salon, the village centre, with its stone cottages and Victorian houses, has good facilities. With thousands of hectares of moors and forest and surrounded by rolling hills and beautiful countryside, it makes the ideal place to stay, with numerous public footpaths and the well-known Scalby Beck winding its way to the coast. A weekly farmers market selling local produce is held in the grounds of St. Lawrence's Church Rooms. Scalby is a lovely retreat after a busy day out, with Scarborough on the doorstep, with its fine, sandy beaches, good restaurants, and bustling town centre!
