Popular since Victorian times, the dynamic seaside town of Scarborough has many of its original beautiful buildings, parks and gardens, as well as its mediaeval castle which overlooks the town. North Bay and South Bay feature two outstanding stretches of gorgeous, golden sandy beaches, popular with families and little children. Scarborough is a superb site for outdoor sports, with golf courses, lovely seaside walks along the Cleveland Way, stunning cycle paths such as the former railway to Whitby, beautiful sailing and championship standard surfing.
