When the sea finally lures you, Scarborough's four sandy bays are just a two-and-a-half mile drive away for bucket and spade days. Our vote goes to North Bay, with its golden sandy shores and chalet-lined promenade – it's just like you imagined. And there's always lashings of fish and chips and ice creams when tummies rumble. Or swing by Scalby's gastro pub within stumbling distance of your home – you'll be sure of a warm welcome.
