  • "This is our second visit to The Steading and definitely won't be the last!"

The fit and finish of the cottage is very high quality and second to none. It is warm and very comfortable! It is spotlessly clean inside and outside of the property, beds very comfortable and there is everything you could need. The welcome pack is a lovely addition! The owner is lovely and we had good communication throughout the stay. Really didn't want to leave and we will be definitely be back!

The property

Resting in the rural hamlet of Rogart in the Scottish Highlands, with views overlooking the hills, is this beautiful barn conversion, The Steading.

This family-friendly home enjoys a bubbling hot tub for a moment of relaxation and is just a short drive away from a village serving a shop and pub.

Be greeted by ample off-road parking before entering the single-storey home, where you will find the utility room, home to a boot rack, a washing machine, and a fridge/freezer for storing your snacks.

Moving through the property, locate the contemporary kitchen, here you can keep the designated chef company at the central island as they make use of the electric range cooker.

Discover the charming sitting room, relax, and unwind on the leather sofa as the woodburning stove crackles nearby; flicker through the Smart TV for a family favourite.

Throw open the French doors for an alfresco affair on the outdoor furniture and watch the sky grow dark.

When eyes grow tired retire inside and choose between two lovely bedrooms, with a king-size with an en-suite and a double with Jack and Jill access to a bathroom: both with Smart TVs for late night entertainment.

Jump in the car to visit a rustic Scottish pub to soak in the culture and browse the convenience store for any last-minute essentials.

Venture to the coastal village of Golspie to enjoy a much-loved book on a long sandy beach and there is a plethora of independent cafes to grab a steaming cup of coffee.

Travel to Dornoch where you’ll find the Royal Durnoch golf course, which was voted the fifth best outside of the United States.

Spend a day at the Blue Flag beach with your loved ones, with its sheltering dunes and glistening shores, which are perfect for paddling and swimming.

Perched on the east coast of Sutherland, is the village of Brora, here you can put your swing to the test at a fine golf course, walk for miles on Brora Beach and head to the outskirts of the village to the stately home of Dunrobin Castle & Gardens.

For a special retreat in a rural setting, choose The Steading.

Where you’ll be staying

ROGART

Golspie 9.5 miles; Brora 14.6 miles.

The small village of Rogart lies in the county of Sutherland in the Scottish Highlands. The village is known for once being the home to Major Andrew MacDonald, who fought into the French and Indian War. The village is also home to the Rogart Railway station, which has become something of an informal outdoor museum of railway memorabilia. Within the village, there is a convenience store, petrol station, a Parish church and a traditional Scottish pub. The nearby coastal village of Golspie is well worth a visit, offering a long sandy beach, which attracts many visitors in all weather conditions, along with a thriving high street lined with independent businesses, restaurants, pubs and cafés. Rogart makes a charming base for touring this beautiful part of Scotland.
