  • "Driving up to the property was very impressive, I had to dive out to the loo after a long drive and was very disappointed with the downstairs bathroom, (first impression), it needed a good scrub around the paintwork and painting, the shower looked grotty, the bin was rusty and needed renewing."

Fortunately, the other rooms were better, although needed painting (by a professional) and updating in areas. All bedrooms were large and comfortable, the bed and bedding helped me sleep well. Unfortunately slugs got in, in the night!!!! The bbq, needed a good scrub, my husband had lipstick on his lips after using a badly washed cup! He wasn't impressed. The fridge freezer needs replacing, we couldn't open one of the freezer drawers because of ice. Shelves were missing in the fridge. The dishwasher needs cleaning out and servicing. The grass was cut just before we arrived and just before we left, unfortunately the cut grass wasn't collected, therefore with 5 people and two dogs, cut grass was traipsed around the property needing hoovering all the time. The planters and planted area could do with some sort of gardening and not long dry grass spoiling it. The views were amazing. The hot tub was well used by the younger ones. On a positive, the property is beautiful, but could be better with updating the decor, changing the two biggest settees, and as there was only one tv in the property, could have done with a smart tv so we could at least watch netflix. There were also no games at all in the property, I usually bring them, but never had to in any other property I rented! So didn't this time. For the amount we paid to rent for the week, mid season, I would have expected the inside to be better decorated and better furnished. It's such a beautiful house and the cleaners need telling to do their job properly! Sorry to be so picky, but I am well travelled, and know what is available for the price we paid! Wifi, was good. Carpet in the hall was slippy, so we lifted it out the way, and someone before us, had swept a load of grass and leaves and dust under it, we left it there for the cleaners or owners to see!

The property

An imposing, Victorian manor house, The Manor House is a truly remarkable property from which to spend quality time with friends and family whilst exploring the history-enriched Isle of Anglesey, Wales.

Built by the Sheriff of Anglesey in 1866, then later owned by a former Vogue model, you can ensure that this property boasts character and charm.

Heading under the bell tower topping the house, salvaged from a shipwreck in Anglesey in 1853, enter into the lofty hallway and kick off your boots before heading into the spacious sitting room where you can all gather together before the woodburning stove, relaxing on the arrangement of sofas or gathering around the table with its feature woodwork base, as you toast to your terrific holiday.

Move through into the kitchen/diner, a bright and airy room with an abundance of natural light flowing through the windows, the chef of the group will delight in concocting tasty treats for the group in here, as the rest of the group gather around the table at the centre of the room for an evening of laughter and entertainment together.

If you're seeking a quiet spot to yourself, retreat to the suntrap of the conservatory where you can delve into a good book whilst overlooking the beauty of the countryside outside of the surrounding windows.

At the end of a fun-filled day, the cottage offers three delightful bedrooms where you can rest your head, made up of a ground-floor super-king-size benefiting from an en-suite shower room, as well as doubling up as a twin on request, making the perfect place for those less mobile.

Up on the first floor you can find both a family room made up of a king-size and a truckle bed with an en-suite bathroom, perfectly suited to those with young children, along with a further king-size doubling up as twin on request, serviced by the gleaming, family shower room on the ground floor.

The delights of the dwelling continue outside, where a luxurious hot tub awaits you to take a dip as you soak in your scenery up close, the perfect way to end any day on your tranquil trip.

The position of the property makes a wonderful base for those seeking outdoor excitement in the form of rambling, cycling and all-around adventure seeking, with nearby Valley making a great stop to collect any last-minute amenities or indulge in a rewarding pint in the pub.

Head to Rhosneigr for a day at the coast where you can play on the golden sands and indulge in an ice cream beneath the sun, or take a trip to Holy Island, boasting rich history and ferry trips over to Ireland for an experience like no other.

The Manor House is a true idyll of a property to base your next family retreat to Wales.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £150.
