Situated between The Lake District and Yorkshire Dales, the historic village of Shap has lots to offer, including good pubs, a cafe, shops and an award winning fish and chip shop. There is even a heated, open air swimming pool (available between May and September). Haweswater, your nearest lake, is only 3 miles away and provides access to many of the great Lake District peaks. Keen walkers can take on part of Wainwright's Coast to Coast, or enjoy any of the vast array of fabulous routes in the surrounding area. Penrith, Kendal and Pooley Bridge are all within 15 miles. Lowther Castle and Gardens with its fabulous adventure play area and tearoom is just 7 miles away. Or why not visit Hill Top, former home to Beatrix Potter, and Dove Cottage where William Wordsworth once lived? This beautiful and spacious property is set on the owner s farmland. You enter into the handy porch, which leads into the hallway. From there, you find yourself in the fabulous open plan lounge/kitchen/diner, the perfect space for spending time with your friends and family or just kicking back and relaxing. Please be aware there is a burn which runs down the side of the garden, this is often empty but can become deeper in wet weather, young children should be supervised.
