And if, for some reason, it does, you can always take to the sprawling garden to stretch your legs. The shaded terrace creates the opportunity for alfresco meals, and there's a private pool too. Throw in a rooftop terrace and barbecue area, and it's obvious why we added this home to our collection. Monticelli Beach is minutes away, and so is the whitewashed town of Ostuni.

• The city tax is to be paid locally with the host. It is between 1€ and 3€ per person and per night.
