This recently restored 19th-century farmhouse is all you could wish for from a stay in Umbria. We love the character features such as the Barberino stone walls, terracotta floors, and barrel vault ceilings with exposed chestnut beams. The large rooms and furnishings wonderfully evoke noble hunting lodges of the last century. The real highlights here, though, are the beautifully-kept garden with its lawns and fragrant rose, lavender and rosemary bushes. There are around 5 hectares to explore as well. Spend your days lounging by the gorgeous saltwater pool, admiring the views over the countryside, relax in the hammock or enjoy an alfresco lunch under the jasmine-covered pergola. An impressive centuries-old oak also provides pleasant natural shade – the perfect spot to read a book. Out and about, explore the olive groves, hills and woods of Umbria on foot, mountain bike or horseback. Or head to medieval hill town Lugnano in Teverina, a twenty-five-minute drive away. The Marmore Falls, a man-made waterfall created by the ancient Romans, is thirty minutes in the car and well worth a trip.
