The village is noted for its agricultural legacy, as well as for marketing local food through a network of enterprises that includes bars, shops, and village halls. The popular Leigh Arms pub and Mere Brow deli are both close dining options, while the nearby post office and petrol station can be used to stock up on basics. There are also other amenities to enjoy, such as a nine-hole golf course, an equestrian centre, and an Anglian centre. The popular seaside town of Southport is within easy driving distance of the settlement, with attractions such as Southport pier, Pleasureland, the Model Railway Village, and the beach. Ormskirk, a market town with access to surrounding Nature Reserves and a twice-weekly market full of artisan produce, live events, and stalls, is also close by.
