Description 31st Street: Manhattan Beach

This lovingly restored 1940s retreat has been a family home for almost three decades. Packed with intriguing artefacts from around the world, every inch is bursting with character and charm. The owner is also an interior designer and sculptor – make sure to play a tune on the upright piano, which is a relic from her childhood. Each bedroom is cosy and well-sized (particularly the main suite), while the many lounges – including an office space – ensure there's a quiet spot for everyone. We're also big fans of tropical terraces and patios. With Manhattan Beach and the Strand both within easy walking distance, it's no surprise we fell hook, line, and sinker.

*While babes in arms are welcome, this home does not accept children under the age of 10.
*This home has no air conditioning but fear not – there are plenty of windows to let in the cool sea air. Your host is also happy to provide a fan upon request.
*The homeowner's housekeeper visits every Friday from 10am to 4:30pm.
*There's no satellite or cable TV here, but there is an Apple TV where you can access Netflix, Amazon Prime and other steaming services.
*A car isn't necessary in this location, but you may want one for adventures further afield. Three on-street parking spaces are avialable out front.
*This home is spread over multiple floors with no internal lift.
