This simple Madrid apartment in Opañel isn't winning any design awards and you'll be sleeping on a raisable bed, but it has everything needed for an extended stay – we think it's ideal for remote workers. The area is local in feel and certainly isn't glamorous, but it does offer a slice of life if you prefer to be far away from touristy spaces. That said, Urgel Station is a short walk away – from here, you can be in the centre of Madrid in less than twenty minutes.

*This is a studio apartment with a Murphy bed. This can be raised during the day to create more space.
*Your host operates several apartments here, so the exact view, layout and furnishings might differ slightly from the photos.
*Home comforts are lacking here. While you have a hob and a microwave, there's no oven, and the room is quite small. We think it's best suited to those looking for a base to use when travelling for work.
*This home is on a commercial street in a residential area. You might not find much in the way of fine dining close by.
*There are no concierge or housekeeping services.
*You won't find a dedicated desk here. However, the small dining table doubles up as a laptop-friendly workspace.
