The nearby hamlet of Hawlsey is situated high above the village of Lydbrook, a peaceful location surrounded by ancient woodlands perfect for both walkers and cyclists. Lydbrook offers a selection of pubs along with a well stocked village store and access on the Wye Valley Walk. There is plenty to see and do, the River Wye for canoeing, wild swimming, and paddle boarding (1.5 miles), and Cannop Cycle Centre for mountain biking (2.5 miles). Other attractions include Clearwell Caves, Perry Grove Railway, Puzzlewood, Go Ape, Hopewell Colliery and Dean Heritage Museum (all within 10 miles). The cottage is set down a private driveway which levels onto a parking area and is accessed via the landscaped gardens where a small porch offers space to kick off muddy walking boots. From here, walk into the social heart of the home the large open plan living space with cosy seating, a crackling wood burning stove and a Smart TV. This area opens onto the kitchen, well equipped with all you need to whip up group feasts, which can be enjoyed from the stylish and airy diner in the next room. After dinner, head to the comfort of a second lounge where you ll find more sumptuous seating, another wood burning stove for cold nights and a Smart TV for entertainment. The ground floor also benefits from a cloakroom with WC. Upstairs, guests have the choice of three generously sized bedrooms, all enjoying stunning views two king size bedrooms and a welcoming double enjoying garden views. Serving the bedrooms and completing the interior is a fantastic family bathroom with chic decor and a free standing roll top bath for unwinding in after long days of walking. Outside, the gardens are both private and enclosed, and are surrounded by greenery which adds to the serenity of the cottage. The sloped landscape results in several tiers across the garden, offering plenty of peaceful corners to escape to with a good book or morning coffee. On balmy evenings, head to the terrace where outdoor furniture, a BBQ and fire pit invite al fresco evening meals.
