Cottage in Shropshire: Ludlow
addremove
Ludlow is a thriving market town and an architectural gem, situated above the River Teme and is surrounded by the countryside of south Shropshire, busy throughout the year with events and festivals celebrating food, arts, crafts, theatre, and the showcase for this being the Ludlow Food and Drink Festival held every September. For keen walkers enjoy the Mary Webb Trail, The Shropshire Way and walks in the Mortimer Forest and on the Long Mynd. Shorter strolls are nearby alongside the river and around the medieval castle. If you have time to escape this lovely town, there s much to see, including Stokesay Castle, Wenlock Priory and Severn Valley Railway along with much else. Behind a traditional brick and stone walled courtyard, the cottage is accessed through a wooden gate into a pretty courtyard garden. Steps go up to the main hallway on the first floor, and to the study where there is plentiful hanging space for coats and boots. The first floor offers a comfortable lounge, where you can relax in front of the TV after a day exploring or enjoy afternoon tea with a good book and views out onto the courtyard. In the study is a collection of good reads and a desk for the occasional email. The ground floor offers access to a kitchen, finished in a contemporary style, and is equipped with an electric oven and induction hob, a fridge and dishwasher. A utility cupboard holds a washing machine and a tumble dryer, together with a small freezer. The kitchen has a table and chairs where you can enjoy your morning coffee. For more formal dining there is a dining room with table and chairs for four. Also, on the ground floor, is a separate WC. When the day is done, climb the stairs to the second floor where you will find two beautifully finished bedrooms. A double bedroom with exposed beams and views onto the oak framed houses, with Clee Hill in the distance. The twin room also has exposed beams and charming rooftop views. There is a bathroom with shower over the bath and WC. Outside, the walled courtyard garden has seating and well stocked borders. There is roadside parking, subject to availability, with a parking permit for one car.
