addremove
The picturesque fishing port of Looe, with its fantastic main town and long sandy beach has changed very little over the generations and has remained ever popular with visitors since the turn of the century. The town has so much to offer, with a fantastic mix of bistros, pubs, restaurants and independent stores. Enjoy one of the many boat trips, from fishing to a leisurely glass bottom ride out to the island. Close by is the village of Polperro with a picture postcard harbour and colourful narrow streets. Attractions in the area include The Monkey Sanctuary, The Adrenalin Quarry, Go karting, Porfell Wildlife Park, The Eden Project and many National Trust properties to name a few. May Cottage is believed to date back to the 17th Century, started life as a sail loft, then converted into a fisherman's cottage and was later used as a bakery. This quirky and typically adapted Cornish cottage is built into the sloping rock of West Looe Hill itself, and is constructed of the traditional materials of its era. Retaining much of its original charm with cobbled walls, low ceilings and historic narrow staircases, giving a real sense of Cornish living. Heading through the undercover walkway and winding up the original slate external steps you will enter this reverse level property into the porch. From the porch, a few steps up take you through to the kitchen/diner which is fully equipped for all your holiday home cooking requirements. The kitchen area comprises of an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge with ice compartment, a washing machine and counter top tumble dryer. From the kitchen, a few steps up lead you into the cosy lounge, a characterful room with views over the rooftops to the harbour and coast; comfortably furnished you can sit back and watch your favourite films on the Smart TV. The perfect place to relax after a day's activities whilst planning your next adventure. The bathroom with shower over bath and WC is located just off from the porch area. From the lounge, steep cottage style stairs lead you to the middle floor and the master bedroom, a king size that has been stylishly furnished. A further narrow staircase down leads to the ground floor and twin bedroom, suitable for adults or children. Heading outside, up the natural slate steps, there is a small raised garden area with decking and a charcoal BBQ with garden furniture looking out across the town, harbour and sea. A parking permit for one car is provided with the property, for a nearby carpark within 100m of the property.
