You'll only like Baixa if you're ready for the full Lisbon experience – this is one of the busiest parts of town, with tourists and locals out and about shopping and dining at all times of the day. Muscle Car is on the third floor, which means you'll lose some of the noise, but the back of this home is noticeably quieter than the front. Complete with staples of great Portugueses design (such as the corniced ceiling and the gaiolas pombalinas), it serves as a pleasant urban stay. Plus, we loved chatting to Tiago, who truly cares about showing his guests a great time in Lisbon.

* The second bedroom in this home doesn't have the best view
* Five guests can sleep in this home, but the last one will be sleeping on a futon in the living room
* Neither of the two bedrooms has sufficient storage to unpack a whole suitcase – this home is better suited for short stays
* There is no elevator to this first-floor home – those with limited mobility or heavy suitcases beware
* Please note that this home doesn't have air conditioning – the host says the fans take care of the heat, but we tested this home in the winter
