But even better than the lavish perks is the marvellous Mediterranean Sea view. The best spot to take it all in is the infinity pool, but the bubbling hot tub and covered terrace will also do nicely, especially come twilight, when the stars pop out overhead. Inside, rich earthy tones merge with marble floors and gold accents to create a sumptuous living space – and with French doors leading onto the terrace, you're never far from the sun. We also love the main suite upstairs – nothing is better than padding out to the balcony first thing and watching the sunrise on the horizon.

Paphos is only a twenty-three-minute drive when you're in the mood for local restaurants and must-visit archaeological sites. Closer to home, you'll find the legendary Aphrodite's Rock (seven minutes by car), as well as a pick of beaches to sprawl out on – Pissouri, Rikkos and the private Bonamare Beach (which you'll have access to with a resort card) are less than twenty minutes by car.
