Kilkeel, a well-stocked harbour town, sits as the main fishing port on the Down coast and is one of Ireland's major fishing fleets. Hosting its 14th century church and laying just south of the glorious Mourne Mountains, this is one of Northern Ireland's finest holiday spots. The town itself boasts a pretty marina and a wealth of friendly spots to shop, eat and drink. For a worthy day trip, a short drive up the coast will take you to popular Newcastle, a charming coastal resort with seaside entertainment and much to see and do. A journey inland leads you towards the city of Newry which promises a memorable visit with much to keep you occupied including sightseeing and shopping. A lengthier drive away is Northern Ireland's capital, Belfast, a place packed with culture and fascinating attractions.
