This charming cottage has wonderful mountain views towards Robinson, Blencathra and Catbells, and lies in a beautiful spot in the Newlands Pass between the picturesque village of Braithwaite and the lake of Buttermere. This is a great base for walkers, close to Causey Pike, Ard Crags and Dale Head (all of which can be walked from the front door). The shores of Derwentwater are nearby (2 miles), where you can go fishing and kayaking, or take a cruise across the lake. At the top of the lake, the friendly market town of Keswick (5.5 miles) has some fantastic pubs, shops and restaurants. Local landmarks include Newlands Adventure Centre (1 mile), Whinlatter Forest Park (5 miles), Honister Slate Mine (8 miles) and Ashness Bridge (7.5 miles). Entering this traditional cottage, which features a number of exposed ceiling beams throughout, you will find yourself in the pretty lounge. Furnished with plenty of comfortable seating, a TV, DVD player, a wood burner effect electric fire and views over the valley, this is a charming space to snuggle up in at the end of an exhilarating day. The pretty kitchen/diner is a pleasure to cook in, featuring a relaxing dining area and plenty of equipment including an under counter fridge, separate freezer, microwave and electric double oven. There s also a handy dishwasher, and you ll find the washing machine and tumble dryer in the nearby utility room. The staircase leads up to the first floor which has two cosy and restful bedrooms, decorated in calm soothing tones: a double room has views across the valley, and the twin room overlooks the woodlands to the rear of the property. The shower room with a WC completes the accommodation. You might recognise the cottage from the BBC's popular drama, 'The A Word' as the family home. Heading outside, steps lead down to a delightful private sitting area with outdoor furniture to the front of the cottage with stunning views across the valley of Catbells, Maiden Moor and High Spy, making it a lovely spot for a morning coffee as you plan the day s events. There s also a small back yard backing onto a woodland area. The owner s barn can be used for storing bikes and outdoor equipment by prior arrangement, and private parking can be found opposite the property.
