Located in the north of the Lake District, close to the market town of Keswick, this delightful cottage blends original features with a contemporary finish to create a comfortable, characterful home. Tucked away in the village of Bassenthwaite, it s only a few miles from popular Bassenthwaite Lake, a wetlands nature reserve where resident ospreys often nest. Head to the far side of the lake to discover Whinlatter Forest, which has a network of walking and cycling trails as well as a Go Ape for kids. The Lake District Wildlife Park is another great family day out, home to lemurs, otters, and zebras. Prefer something more adventurous? Try climbing magnificent Skiddaw or Blencathra, escaping the crowds by using the lesser known northern routes to reach their peaks. On entering the property you ll find yourself in the cosy, open plan living area, where exposed beams and traditional furniture create a country cottage feel. There is comfortable seating around the wood burner, which is perfect for colder evenings, whilst a table with seating for four provides somewhere to eat, play games, or plan the next day s adventure. A floor to ceiling window frames the beautiful surroundings and lets light flood into the room. The kitchen space is compact but has everything you ll need for simple self catering, including a Belfast sink, a cooker, a fridge, and a microwave. Under the stairs in the hallway, you ll also find a washing machine and a freezer. Upstairs, there are two bedrooms one double and one twin both of which are light and airy with lovely country views. Completing the accommodation is a family bathroom with a roll top bath and separate shower. Directly outside the property, there is a bench overlooking the rugged surroundings, an ideal spot for a morning coffee. The owners have also developed another outside space which they call The Allotment, to get here you cross the stream and follow the small path. More of a garden than an allotment, it s a haven of tranquillity, with a summer house, seating, views of Skiddaw, and even some hens. For younger children, there are swings and a river with ducks just around the corner. On site parking is available for one car, with further parking located around the corner.
