• "We can’t rate this cottage highly enough, located in a beautiful area near so many outstanding locations."

  The very welcoming and friendly owners who live next door, but were never intrusive, clearly care for their cottage which was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The welcome pack was without doubt the best we’ve experienced, including delicious homemade produce!

  It's our favourite holiday home we've stayed in and we will be back and recommending to others! We loved the decor, the kitchen had everything we needed, and the cottage was xtremely clean. The outdoor spaces were great, and the positioning was ideal for the Lakes and Dales.

• "We absolutely loved our stay at The Hayloft."

  The place is beautiful and nicely situated in an area that is quiet with lots of nice walking available, but still within a short travel distance of major towns. The hosts are very friendly and welcoming, with a special mention to the dog, Alfie, who was a very gracious host and kept us entertained with games of frisbee. We will definitely be returning for future visits.

• "Definitely the best property we have stayed in (and others said the same in the Visitor Book)."

  Perfect quiet location only a few miles from Kendal and handy for the Motorway. Our excellent hosts, Hugh and Amanda, gave us lots of local information. A fantastic welcome pack too with essentials and homemade goodies. Very much a cosy "home from home" for our pre- Christmas break. We were delighted to find there was so much to do in the area in mid December. We explored the Lake District and even ventured into the Yorkshire Dales. Lots of Christmas shopping, coffee shops, museums and even the pantomime in Lancaster and the Theatre by the Lake in Keswick. We can really recommend the property and a big thank you to Hugh and Amanda! We were their last guests this year and weI are sure they will have lots of satisfied customers in 2025! • "Our stay at 'The Hay Loft' was lovely."

  The cottage was perfect with everything you could think of and lots of little extras which adds that special touch. Very peaceful and relaxing. The hosts Amanda & Hugh were lovely and Alfie (the most friendliest dog) visited us every day and loved to play Frisbee with our son. We would highly recommend 'The Hay Loft'. • "Beautiful cottage, very comfortable and equipped with everything you need."

• "This is a little gem of a cottage."

  It's cosy, comfortable, well-equipped and immaculately clean. It's in a lovely location - ideally situated for both The Lakes District and Yorkshire Dales. The owners Amanda & Hugh will greet you with a very warm welcome and are really lovely people - they also provide lots of 'extras' including Amanda's delicious home-made biscuits and marmalade. And then there's Alfie!! He's such a sweetie - he visits every morning & evening and is always there to greet you when you get back from a day out. We had the most lovely holiday in this special cottage (and the weather was very kind to us as well - perfect!) and would highly recommend it. • "What more can I say other than AMAZING from start to finish, Hugh & Amanda where fantastic hosts the welcome hamper with home made marmalade and biscuits went down a treat with the coffee."

  The Hay Loft was spotless with everything you could need including visit’s from Alfie the most friendly dog you would ever meet. Who loved playing frisbee in the afternoon !! . An ideal position to visit anywhere in the lakes and even having electric charging for my car was a bonus all I can say is thank you from the bottom of hearts Hugh & Amanda x don’t be frightened to book this place it is truly beautiful.

• "A beautiful cottage, comfortably furnished, wonderfully quiet and yet close to everything, just a few miles from the M6 ​​and Kendal, Windermere is also not far."

  Ideal location to visit the Lakes, which can be busy. Amanda and Hugh are a friendly and hospitable couple who make you feel immediately at home. And we truly enjoyed the daily visits by Alfie, a real sweetheart (and we’re not even real ‘dog lovers’.)

• "This is one of the best cottages that we have stayed in over the past 30 years."

  It is warm, quiet ,clean and the bed is comfortable. Hugh, Amanda and Archie were very welcoming and provided a lovely basket of food for us. We would quite happily return.

• "Brilliant stay at the Hay Loft."

  We have been stopping in cottages for 20 plus years and this is one of the best ever. Great location, faultless hosts, best ever welcome pack including home made biscuits and marmalade, just add to the quality. The Hay loft is very peaceful, warm and comfortable. Excellent beds and shower, underfloor heating and brilliant little log burner. Full Fiber WiFi very quick and stable. Walks from the Hay Loft and more in the welcome book only add to the service provided. Would go back at the drop of a hat.

• "10/10 Homely, warm, quiet, private, clean cottage."

  The homemade cookies and marmalade was a thoughtful touch very much appreciated. Beautiful log burner keeps the place toasty. Lovely guard dog Alfie always outside our door waiting for us. Outstanding scenery surrounding and so peaceful! Couldn’t have asked for more, didn’t want to go home. Thank you.

• "Apart from during the pandemic, we have stayed in various holiday cottages in the lake district, Yorkshire dales, North Wales & Scotland every year for the last 32 years ."

  .. and we can honestly say this is the best one ever! The Hay Loft is a beautiful, very well equipped property and the owners Hugh & Amanda are lovely. As are their dogs, in particular Alfie, who likes to pay frequent visits to the cottage. The views from the cottage are magnificent. The welcome pack and all the little extras such as milk, butter & bread, tea & coffee were lovely and most welcome after a very long journey. We loved it there, despite the awful weather & my bad knee, and we hope to return in the future. (My husband only had 1 little niggle ... there is no shaver point. Also the door from the bedroom out onto the patio wouldn't open.)

• "The cottage was immaculate and finished to a high standard."

  The owners provided many extras, homemade biscuits and marmalade a welcome treat. Although in an isolated area the surroundings are beautiful and Kendal is approx 12 miles away. We discovered many areas in the Lake District not seen in past years.

• "This property was an absolute gem."

  I cannot fault the location, property or hosts. We looked forward to returning after a long day out and to have a glass of wine and taking in the scenery and peace and quiet. The hosts and their dog were great aswell and they helped with any questions we might have. The only negative was ( We had to leave and come home ). Would definatly return to the Hayloft again, weather was perfect and the property and hosts were aswell, well done.

• "We found the Hay Loft very clean, comfortable and welcoming."

  The hosts were eager to ensure we had everything we needed and provided a most generous welcome pack. An absolute saviour for us was overnight charging at a very fair rate, especially when local chargers were either all in use or just 7kw which would take at least 12 hours for a decent amout of charge . Thank you for providing this excellent facility. We highly recommend the Hay Loft, it is in a beautiful location and is in easy reach of the Lakes.

  The countryside surrounding the Hay Loft is beautiful and tranquil, perfect for a relaxing holiday. Kendal is only a short distance away for all your shopping needs, and of course all that the Lake District has to offer with mountains and lakes, not forgetting how easily the Yorkshire Dales can also be reached.
