Simons Lookout is a beautiful Victorian house, within a stone s throw of the sea and with amazing views of Fowey Harbour. It sits at the western end of the pretty fishing village of Polruan, near the historic block house, but within a short walk of the shop and the quay with its pubs, and the ferry to Fowey, with its shops and restaurants There are also a huge choice of beautiful walks and easy access to kayaking, paddleboarding and wild swimming. Simons Lookout is on the coast path with some stunning beaches within walking distance, including Ready Money Cove in Fowey (via the Ferry) and Lantic Bay along the coast path. Slightly further afield, Lansallos beach with its rugged scenery, history of smuggling, and beautiful forest walk is well worth a visit. The beaches in Polruan, which appear as the tide goes out, are wonderful for paddling and as part of an early morning walk with the mist hanging over the water. For those that want to explore the history of this part of Cornwall there is also lots to do including exploring the Blockhouse in Polruan, St Catherines Castle in Fowey and the incomparable Restormel Castle just outside Lostwithiel. When you arrive, you will enter the house from the rear patio into a bright vaulted kitchen with a small dining area and space to hang coats. Walking through the kitchen and up a short flight of steps into the open plan living / dining room, here you will see the wonderful, and ever changing, view of the harbour. Downstairs on the ground floor there are two bright and welcoming bedrooms, one twin and one king, a bathroom with a shower over the bath and a further toilet. The ground floor front door provides access to a small seating area, which is a good place to watch the world go by, and steps down to West Street. On the top floor is a further bedroom with a king sized bed and an en suite WC and sink. The top floor bedroom has amazing views over the roof tops of Polruan and down onto the harbour; sitting at the writing table feels like being in a boat s crow s nest . The house is well equipped with a range of books to dip into, a picnic hamper to take to the beach or up to the hill to watch the sun go down, and games and jigsaws for quiet or wet days. The cottage has a pretty, south facing patio and garden, with mature shrubs and bushes, which have glimpsed harbour views and are lovely to sit out in or eat al fresco on a sunny day. Simon s lookout also has a parking space which is rare in this part of the village. Pedestrian access to the adjacent houses in the terrace is allowed at the front and rear of the house across the patio.
