Enjoying a privileged position right on the banks of the River Arno, this handsome apartment is just the ticket for those looking for a sunny, relaxing stay. Inside, Old World charm creates an instantly inviting welcome in the grand living area with a plethora of antiques and classical-style furnishings, as well as a beautiful mezzanine library – the ideal spot to stow yourself away for some quiet reading. Those looking to work from home will find plenty of desk spaces, including in the elegant bedrooms with their river views. Our favourite spot, however, is the private terrace overlooking the Arno, the San Niccolò district and the Oltrarno hills. Start your mornings here over coffee while listening to the river’s whispers or end evenings with a spritz at sundown before discovering the local dining scene. Speaking of exploring, you're spoilt for choice when it comes to cultural hotspots nearby with the Uffizi Gallery a seven-minute walk, Ponte Vecchio a nine-minute stroll and the famous Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore thirteen minutes away on foot.

About Santa Croce
Santa Croce is a trendy, architecturally impressive neighbourhood that’s less busy than the Duomo or San Marco districts, but still in the heart of Florence. Home to the eponymous basilica, and the Casa Buonarroti museum, it’s located in the eastern part of Florence’s historic centre. The largest crowds have thinned out by this point, but if you stay here, you're still close enough to explore the whole city on foot....

Brave the crowds at the Uffizi
There's a reason it's busy – from Leonardo and Botticelli through to Rembrandt, this is one of the most important collections of European art in the world.

Pay respects at Basilica di Santa Croce
Many of Florence's most eminent citizens are buried in the Franciscan church, including Galileo, Machiavelli, and Michelangelo.

Turn the pages at Libreria Brac
A bookshop, a vegetarian restaurant, and a bar – you could quite happily spend all day at this hidden gem.

Get a coffee at Caffè Le Murate
A combination of a bookshop, a cafe, and a gallery, this arts centre is housed in a former prison, but these days the vibe is slightly different.

Dine like a local at La Giostra
Experience the intimate and classy yet relaxed atmosphere of La Giostra. Indulge in Tuscan dishes, including the famous Florentine T-bone steak, paired with a selection from their extensive wine list.
