• "We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday."

  Sugarbush cottage was excellent. Our favourite aspect was the wonderful view from the sun room over the bay, fields and hills. The owner was extremely helpful and provided us with lots of useful information about the local area as well as leaving us some welcome scones on our arrival. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to friends.

• "The cottage is in a spectacular location with views from the sunroom which are amazing."

  It’s got two bathrooms one en-suite downstairs and all the beds are full adult size. We did not want to leave, but knew that the power issues (no electricity to fridge etc) made it difficult to stay. Sykes offered several options including a full refund or staying in another cottage. The communication was poor on the day of arrival as the key holder did not provide the code to the key safe and was unavailable to sort out the problem with fuses. We had a visit from a neighbour who sorted it out next morning but it was a fraught beginning. PJ is friendly and will give excellent advice on what to do, places to see. On balance we would return as similar problems could be solved more quickly with the right people involved.

• "First of all, the cottage ist very nice located."

  I travel to Ireland more than 10 years and 2-4 times in the year. I have never ever dispose my waste by myself or had to pay for it. In the sugarbush cottage the first time although a bin was outside the house but is was not allowed to take my waste inside. The waste disposal site was 10km away. And also I’ve never paid for electricity extra. In the sugarbush cottage you have to pay 1,50 per unit! This is triple more than the local price. These are things I don’t worry about when I’m on vacation. Also there was no dishcloths, nothing for the dishwasher or the washing Maschine. Anyway we had a nice holiday but it would be more comfortable to pay more for the cottage but have all inclusive

• "We had a very enjoyable stay at Sugarbush, despite the weather being wet and windy at times."

  The house was clean and comfortable, we had heating and hot water as required. The sunroom was lovely and gave great views of the scenery. A few recommendations - could do with an upstairs toilet, entering and exiting driveway on a bad bend (not easy do anything with that), didn't like having to bring rubbish home with me. Overall, very enjoyable. Thanks, John

  9 euro to dispose of one bin-bag of rubbish is too expensive though, and inconvenient, should be included in rental charge somehow

• "House needs a thorough dusting."

  Nice House. Nice location. Paying to empty your bins is not in the listing. Have never had to do it before. Makes no sense when you have a black wheelie bin at the property. 9e to get rid of one bin bag. That kind of thing would make me not stay there. Also don't have pictures of a deck that you have boarded off. Also the actual pictures of the house need updating as they don't do it justice how Nice it is inside

• "A lovely cottage, really peaceful and charming in a quiet location."

  We thoroughly enjoyed a restful time at Sugarbush cottage. Communication with the key holder was easy and efficient. The man working on the building next door was a delight…. If you walked all of Ireland you wouldn’t meet a nicer and more gifted man. This isn’t a place for internet or phone coverage…. But that was ultimately a gift. Would love to go back k to Sugarbush cottage again sometime. Thanks for everything.

• "We absolutely loved the cottage."

  The view of the hills and the bay, the lambs in the pasture... The sun room was our favorite family area. A lovely country retreat, no too far from some lovely walks and drives.

  the heating has been upgraded so no more problems with bathing. we visited in January and were warm enough.

• "The cottage is very well located looking east across a low area with hills behind, but the dramatic, rocky landscape of the western end of the peninsula starts just uphill from the house."

  There is also a very pleasant quiet, pebbly beach just 5 minutes' walk down a small road beside the house where our dog and I could swim happily even on rainy days. The sunroom is a real asset as the view east is an endless source of interest and it makes a bright, relaxed communal space.

• "It's unbelievable that as an Irish person living in Ireland that I have to book ..."

  It's unbelievable that as an Irish person living in Ireland that I have to book a house in County Cork in Ireland though an English website, and any phone enquiries I had to make were to an English number, this is the last time I will use Hogan's Irish Cottages, and it's just for that reason I wonder if I wanted to book a holiday in an English cottage would I have to contact an Irish website, I doubt it While I was there I got contact details of local home owners who have properties to rent, so in the future I will look locally or go Airbnb

  Greatly recommended for any type of trip, if you're looking to get away from the usual bore. Pretty secluded location makes this a perfect getaway.
