Location
Exford has two popular pubs that both serve lunch and evening meals, there is also the village tea shop, and the village shop that sells various essentials.

Exford is situated in the centre of Exmoor National park offering great access to all that Exmoor has to offer. It is a small rural village based around a traditional village green with childrens play area, beside it sits the village shop. Exford and the surrounding area is famous for its beautiful and unspoiled countryside making it ideal for hiking, biking, riding and fishing.

There are many miles of way-marked paths down the valley following the river Exe, or over the moors of Exmoor to the coast a short drive away. The Exmoor coastal towns of Lynmouth, Porlock and Minehead are a short drive away whilst Taunton and the M5 are only 26 miles away.

Just 10 minutes from Exford is Alderman's Barrow, just one example of the opportunity explore an incredible Bronze age Landscape, with its mysterious stone settings, barrow and hut circle. A footpath runs from Alderman's Barrow to Larkbarrow which is the ruins of an isolated farm that was used for firing practice during World War II. This area is described by Exmoor National Park as being surrounded by miles of open, rolling grass moorland, and one of the best places to experience remoteness and tranquility on Exmoor.

Exmoor is a beautiful place to visit. It is a place of rolling hills, medieval villages, wild moors and a dramatic coastline. The moor does literally meet the sea with the highest sea cliffs in England. In 2011 Exmoor National Park was designated an International Dark Sky Reserve, the first place in Europe to achieve this prestigious award and only the second in the world.
