6 Customer Reviews

  • "House was very clean location was excellent for the wonderful beaches around."

Was quiet with plenty of parking and a shop at the end of the drive with all you’ll need. The home owners were wonderfully friendly kind and very helpful. Towels and linen were of high quality plenty of crockery and cutlery in the kitchen. Plenty of sofas and seating for our party of 10. The listed en-suites in the twin rooms were not fit for purpose x1 was out of order and the other is simply a tiny loo and shower built into a cupboard, with no window or ventilation so steamed up the bedroom we couldn’t use it. The bathroom on the landing is more modern but a ‘jack and gill’ design with a door into a bedroom and the landing, with our mix of 6 teenagers the bathroom situation was a bit of an issue. Wi-Fi super slow and only available in the lounge. Dishwasher slightly broken inside so racks don’t roll in and out, the owners are aware of this and are aiming to replace.

The property

This fabulous 5 bedroom detached holiday house is situated in an acre of grounds, with a (fenced) lake in an adjoining 2 acre field.

The house makes an excellent base for a large family group wishing to spend some quality time together.

As it is on the Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire border, it makes it easy to explore both counties and there are plenty of places to go and things to do and see within a few miles. If you enjoy walking there are the Preseli Hills or the 186 miles of Pembrokeshire Coast Path.

If you prefer attractions there is a great choice with Oakwood, Heatherton, Hangar 5 trampolines and Folly Farm – there is something to please all tastes and ages.

If you prefer a beach there are several within a half hour drive including Newport, Tenby, Amroth and Saundersfoot.

The rather bohemian town of Narberth is a 15 minute drive and has an interesting range of eateries, boutique shops and galleries to enjoy. There is a grocery shop close by.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £250.

Where you’ll be staying

EFAILWEN

Llandissilio 3.4 miles; Narberth 8.3 miles; Tenby 25 miles

Efailwen is a Carmarthenshire village in South Wales boasting a cafe, a school and a church, abounded in a plethora of rambling countryside and dotted with quaint little cottages. Efailwen has quite a history especially with the Rebecca Riots, which began in 1839. This idyllic setting is situated only but a few miles from Llandissilio which is scattered with traditional Welsh local pubs and shops, however for a wider range of amenities, head towards Narberth where you can enjoy multi-coloured Edwardian and Georgian buildings lining the high street. There are many attractions to explore such as the castle and museum, both offering interesting days out, along with the Canaston Woods close by, offering a wealth of opportunity for walking, cycling and horseriding should the fancy take you. Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo is great for taking the kids whilst the adults of the group will enjoy pubs and eateries about the town. Even farther afield is the harbour town of Tenby, an iconic seaside location boasting watersports, three stunning beaches, golfing facilities and The National Trust owned Tudor Merchant's House, all to be explored with the towns’ quaint, picturesque landscape as a backdrop. Efailwen is the perfect little village if you want to get away to the country yet discover all that Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire have to offer.
