And if you think the garden looks pretty now – wait till you see the festoon lights flicker on at night. It's a magical place to spend evenings with sundowners and a barbecue.

When it's time to beat the heat, there are heaps of activities to keep everyone happy indoors. A games cabinet stacked with toys and a games console should keep the kids (and big kids) busy or crash out with a movie in the cosy living area.
