Behind the beach, Northam Burrows Country Park offers a wonderful backdrop for scenic walks amongst the sand dunes and saltmarshes, surrounded by a wide range of wildlife. The pretty village of Appledore is just under two miles away and makes a lovely place to spend an afternoon watching the boats in the harbour and trying the local ice cream, or perhaps catching the ferry across the estuary to the neighbouring village of Instow.
