In summer, a ferry runs across the estuary to the pretty fishing village of Appledore, where numerous pleasure craft offer scenic boat trips. The town of Bideford is just four miles down river from Instow, offering a range of shops and eateries, and for those who are feeling energetic, it is possible to enjoy a riverside walk to Bideford directly from the property.
