Even more impressive is the balconette at the front. It looks like a typical view of Barcelona’s fabulous modernist architecture, until you realise you're staring at the back of Casa Batlló itself. We think peering over the railings here is the perfect way to start your holiday with a bottle of complimentary wine upon arrival from your host. Say ‘salud’ as you clink glasses and start exploring the home. With modern furniture and a clean, sleek colour scheme of whites and greys, the overall atmosphere is fairly relaxed. And for even more relaxation, you’ve got a bathtub to soak in, as well as a private, in-house masseuse that your host can arrange if you wish. For the more active types, you can head down to the in-building gym for residents, or step out into your local barrio to find shops, bars, restaurants, and cafés.

* There are steps leading to the elevator, so access isn't entirely step-free
* You'll be greeted by a friendly doorman in this exclusive building, where you'll also have access to a gym
* The only parking available is a nearby public (paid) car park, but the metro is only three minutes away
* One of the bathrooms has a low shower which might not be comfortable for taller guests
* The double beds are in fact singles put together with a zip-up mattress protector (but still very comfortable)
*You'll get a complimentary bottle of wine, and for an extra fee, your host also offers a home massage service
*Rather than keys, you can only access this home with a door code
*The bedrooms have a shared storage room like a walk-in wardrobe
