Area
The rural and picturesque village of Almeley is a fantastic spot to enjoy a break away from it all. It is home to Almeley Market and Deli which can be found by The Bells Inn. Here you can peruse the locally sourced produce, order lunch from what you see and enjoy a pint of real ale. Nearby, the small town of Kington, well regarded as a centre for walking, is celebrated by visitors for its lovely scenery and excellent walking and cycling in the surrounding rolling hills. This quiet, pleasant town offers a number of excellent shops, pubs and restaurants. There are a variety of tourist attractions close by including the Kingswood Small Breed Farm Park and Owl Centre, the pretty blooms at the Hergest Croft Gardens and the Mortimer Trail. Travel a little further to the bustling medieval village of Pembridge which lies on the Black & White Village Trail and boasts many striking 15th and 16th century half-timbered buildings, and has held markets and fairs in the village since the early 1200s. The village has a beautiful 14th century market hall, 3 traditional village pubs, an excellent village store, a cafe and a church with a unique detached bell tower. Surrounded by beautiful rolling countryside including Offa's Dyke and the Golden Valley, this is an excellent location for walking and cycling trails as well as sampling wonderful local produce at a local cheese factory, vineyard and cider farms.
