Casa de Campo Rústica: Algaida
addremove
This rustic country home is located on the outskirts of Algaida, affording you a perfectly peaceful setting. While the small town of Algaida itself can be reached within seven minutes by car. Here, you will find narrow streets flanked by sandstone buildings, a central square with a pretty 15th-century church, and plenty of restaurants serving local, traditional cuisine. The town is also famous for the windmills which dominate its skyline, and on the outskirts, you can even visit the Gordiola Glass factory, housed in an 18th-century castle, where you can watch glass blowing in a workshop with majestic arches and beautiful stained-glass windows.
Begin your days here with breakfast alfresco under the shade of the awning. Lounge in the sunshine before taking a dip in the cooling waters of your private pool, while your children enjoy the playhouse and swings. Then, why not head out for a day of exploring and adventures.
Play a round of golf at the course just a twelve-minute drive away or go horse riding at the equestrian ranch – a short six-minute drive away. Go shopping at Mallorca Fashion outlet – a twenty-minute drive away, or head to Palma for the day – reachable by car in twenty-five minutes – where you can see Palma’s gothic cathedral, wander the maze-like streets of Palma’s old town, hop on the Soller Railway for a scenic trip, enjoy the nightlife, and much more.
Spend beach days at Ca’n Pastilla or explore the area's heritage by visiting the archaeological site of Santuari Talaiòtic de Son Corró – an eighteen-minute drive away. Or, why not visit Jardins d’Alfàbia, a former estate with a Gothic-style home and 18th-century water fountains surrounded by stunning gardens of palm trees.
At dinner time, try one of the many restaurants not far away from this home that can be reached within six minutes by car, or cook something delicious on the barbecue, and dine alfresco poolside as the sun sets.
Home truths:
*As there's no pool heating here, some guests felt that the pool was too cold to use during the cooler months. They also said it's smaller than it appears in the photos.
*Guests said that the home can be tricky to heat in winter.
*The mobile phone reception and wi-fi here can be patchy at times. If you'll be relying on an internet connection for work, we'd recommend bringing a personal hotspot device with you as a backup.
*Given this home's location, we'd suggest bringing a car if you want to explore the local area. Some guests found that taxi services were difficult to book.
*You might hear some noise from passing air traffic.
*This home is lacking some bathroom essentials. We'd recommend packing a few bits and bobs
