Matt was a very good host and nothing was too much trouble to help with our stay. We would recommend this lodge as a good base for exploring Kent.

ADISHAM

Wingham 3 miles; Canterbury 7 miles; Sandwich 9 miles.

Adisham is a quiet village in the heart of rural Kent on one of the routes that formed part of the Pilgrims' Way, immortalised by Geoffrey Chaucer in The Canterbury Tales. Today’s pilgrims can make the journey by train from Adisham railway station, arriving in Canterbury in less than 10 minutes! This beautiful part of Kent still offers numerous footpaths and bridleways for those who wish to explore the countryside either by foot or in the saddle. Why not pack a picnic, leave the car behind and ramble through woods and fields, enjoying the sights and sounds of Kent at its best? Wingham is only three miles away, with local shops, quaint pubs and a large selection of restaurants. The fabulous Gibsons Farm Shop is a short distance away, offering local produce complete with a café serving homemade food throughout the day. Located close by is the famous Howletts Wild Animal Park, where families of all ages can experience an exciting day out. Only six miles from Adisham is the beautiful, historic city of Canterbury. No visitor can come to this part of Kent and not spend a day exploring this exciting city, with its theatres, shops and river trips. At every turn there is a piece of history to be admired, and the regular guided tours bring the days of pilgrims and beggars back to life.
