Tucked away in the peaceful village of Llanvihangel Crucorney, close to the English border, this stunning Grade 2* listed house enjoys an enviable location in the eastern fringes of the Brecon Beacons, making it an ideal place to stay for keen walkers. The house was featured in "Conde Nast Traveller" article Sept 2021 as one of the "47 best holiday cottages in the UK" and "Country Life" article Dec 2020, as one of "Five Unique UK Holiday rentals to book for 2021". The market town of Abergavenny with its annual food festival and known as the Gateway to Wales lies just five miles away, with a market held three times a week as well as a wealth of independent shops, restaurants and pubs to choose from, whether your choice to eat is a Michelin starred restaurant or tapas for two. Also a short distance away lies the 13th century ruins of Llanthony Priory, a gorgeous and historic beauty spot. Crickhowell is another small nearby town, with a gallery and some interesting shops to browse. Retaining a wealth of period features throughout, the property s oak beams, wood panelling, stone steps and fireplaces and quality furnishings really showcase the cottage s 16th century origins. Upon entering the property, you ll enter into the slate floored entrance hall, with a study area and lounge found to your left. The study is the perfect area to hide away for any work, and takes you through to the large lounge, a welcoming relaxation space. Comfortable seating is arranged around the warming wood burner (well stocked log store is available for guests use), while there is also a Smart TV/DVD and an excellent collection of DVDs and games to keep everyone entertained, as well as a large collection of books to suit most tastes. The kitchen/diner is reached from the hallway on the right hand side and is equipped with plenty of modern features yet still retains a traditional feel. Cook up a special meal on the Aga, or for something quick, there is a microwave. A dishwasher, fridge/freezer and a washer/dryer make this property a real home from home. The large wooden dining table can comfortably seat six guests. There is also a toilet on the ground floor in the utility area. Upstairs, you ll find three stunning double bedrooms, as well as a fourth small bedroom, ideal for a child, with a double bed, which can be made up on request. One bedroom also has an additional day bed. Another bedroom boasts its own en suite shower room with toilet, and can be accessed by a stone staircase leading up from the lounge. This bedroom is separated from the neighbouring bedroom by wooden panels walls, and therefore noise may travel between these rooms. There is also a bathroom on the first floor, with a freestanding roll top bath and toilet, as well as a separate shower room further down the hallway. To the side of the house, you ll find the private garden a large lawn area which enjoys the sunshine for much of the day. Slightly further from the house behind a hedge is a more secluded and shaded outdoor space. Dine al fresco with the BBQ and set of table and chairs additional chairs can also be found in a stone coach house at the bottom of the garden. The shed also contains table tennis and other garden games that guests are free to use, including boules and croquet. Parking for 3 cars is available on the driveway in front of the property.
