Pop a lead on the dogs and head out for a walk along the path from the village green, down to the bridge and onto the Caldbeck Way. Head to Caldbeck (2.5 miles) or Sebergham (5 miles), and stroll through woodlands with valley views. Past Caldbeck, find The Howk and pretty waterfalls as you follow the river. For a more challenging hike, take the footpath up to High Pike (5 miles) and across the ridge to Carrock Fell (4 miles) for panoramic views which reach as far as the Solway Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (18 miles). Head to the beach for a family day out and tuck into fish and chips or wait to visit your local pub in the village of Hesket Newmarket. Step up a couple of steps and through the door to the tiled hallway where you can leave boots and hang coats to dry. Find the kitchen which is full of country style and has an AGA, microwave, dishwasher, TV and radio to keep you entertained whilst cooking. Rustle up a storm and serve it up at the dining table which seats six guests. The handy utility room has an American style fridge/freezer with ice machine, a washing machine and tumble dryer, a clothes airer and a back up electric oven and gas hob. Also on the ground floor is a useful shower room with WC. Unwind in the large lounge which is kept warm by a roaring wood burner. Choose from one of the sofas and settle down in style in front of the TV or a DVD. If you fancy some peace and quiet, pull the curtain from the stairs, or sit at the desk underneath the stairs. There are games and puzzles to keep you entertained. When it s time to say good night, climb stairs to the bright landing with room for a cot, and onto the three inviting bedrooms. Step up another step to the king size bedroom with charming, exposed beams and plenty of storage. The next bedroom is a twin which can be made up as a super king size on request. The final bedroom has bunk beds and is suited to children for a holiday sleepover with siblings or friends. Rise and shine and admire the views before heading into the family bathroom with WC and shower over the bath. Take care of sloping ceilings upstairs. Start your day with a breath of fresh air in the enclosed, gravelled courtyard where you can catch the sun all day long. With a picnic bench, additional bench and a BBQ, you re invited to dine alfresco and enjoy a drink or two outside. The back gate opens onto a pathway leading onto the common at the back of the cottage giving direct traffic free access to the footpath network. There is roadside parking.
