A small Welsh market town, Rhayader has a variety of cafes, bars, restaurants, shops, and other services, including local antiques. A huge swimming pool and a weekly cattle market at the recreation centre are further benefits. On the outskirts of the town, the Red Kite Feeding Station is a fantastic site that should not be missed. The magnificent Elan and Claerwen Valley dams and reservoirs are located in Rhayader, which is the first town on the River Wye. The Elan Valley has many different walking and cycling paths (you can rent bicycles in Rhayader), as well as a visitor centre with a café and a playground for kids. With its astounding array of public nature reserves, this region is referred to as the Wildlife Centre of Wales. Pony trekking is another activity offered nearby. Visit Builth Wells, the site of the yearly Spring Festival, Royal Welsh Agricultural Show, and Winter Fair. Alternatively, a 34-mile picturesque journey will get you to the Welsh coast.
