Description First Impression: Pontoise

If you're fond of the work produced during the impressionist movement, a visit to Pontoise is essential, as a lot of the most prominent artists chose to base themselves in this picturesque corner of France. However, it's fair to say that some of the homes have progressed a little since Pissaro and Cézanne were plying their trade in the area – this address is a prime example.

There's something effortlessly stylish about the interior, dominated as it is by stark white walls, shiny tiling and chic furnishings. If you need to buy ingredients, the centre of Pontoise takes around a quarter of an hour to reach on foot and also offers galleries and a cathedral. Paris is only an hour away on the train, too.
