Located in the pretty village of Shap, this traditional cottage is the perfect location to enjoy a holiday exploring the national parks. Shap is a vibrant yet rural spot and has a couple of pubs and a shop, making it easy for you to pick up essentials or walk to and from an evening meal. The edge of the Lake District is just 1 mile from here and walking routes that vary from gentle meanders to challenging fell hikes are easily accessible from the property. Ullswater (17.5 miles) is a great place to enjoy boating or fishing. Take a stroll around the lake path and visit the superb Aira Force waterfall. For further shops, dining and museums, head to Penrith, 11 miles away. Enter this 17th century Grade II listed property via an original low doorway into the open plan lounge/kitchen/diner. Traditional beams and features such as the original fireplace add character to this space, while the modern furnishings and amenities make it practical. The kitchen has an electric oven, hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and a utility room containing a washing machine, microwave and further sink. There is also a table and chairs seating six people, so you can all dine together. Fire up the wood burner in the lounge space and take a seat on one of the comfortable sofas. A Smart TV is provided for your use. Bike storage for two bikes is available under the stairs. Upstairs, the bedrooms all retain original window seats, sloping ceilings and exposed beams. The floor throughout the upstairs comes from the former Methodist chapel in the village. A master bedroom has a super king size bed (can be made into a twin on request) and an en suite walk in shower room. The second large bedroom is a king size bed and the third a single. Completing the upstairs is a family bathroom with a shower over the bath and WC. To the front of the property is a patio courtyard with a small storage shed. It s partially enclosed and bordered with shrubs, trees, flowers and herbs. The seating area is a great place to soak up the evening sun or enjoy a morning coffee while planning the day ahead. Take a peek down the original, covered working well and you ll see the water moving below. There is room for one car to park on the driveway, though further roadside parking is available. The nearest pub and shop are around 200 metres away. There is an electric vehicle charging point in the village, provided by Charge My Street and located by the Memorial Hall, approximately 500 metres from the property.
