There's a reason Salamanca is one of Madrid's most sought-after neighbourhoods. With its gourmet eateries, world-renowned museums and luxury boutiques lining the Golden Mile, the area offers something for everyone. Just on the cusp of this swanky postcode is this apartment. The size is ideal for couples and solo travellers, but the option of a single sofa bed keeps sleeping arrangements flexible. Netflix and a Playstation have rainy days covered, and although it's not the most exciting home, we like the design – particularly the colourful wallpaper in the bedroom.

*One guest will sleep on a sofa bed in the living area *Although there's a lift in the building, there isn't an access ramp here and there may be a couple of steps before you reach the lift *There's a desk in the living area if you plan to catch up on work during your stay *The entrance to this building is shared with other residents *This is a central spot, so noise is to be expected *While nicely equipped, there isn't a lot of counter space in the kitchen – we think it's best suited to lighter bites *No parking is provided, but you won't need a car in Madrid – we think the best way to explore is either on foot or via public transportation
